Tour Highlights

  • Pick seasonal wild vegetables (taros, burdock, bamboo shoots, bracken, and mushrooms) in the fields and mountains
  • Enjoy them in a way that suits each ingredient, such as tempura, soup, boiled vegetables, or rice dishes.

Let’s go to the mountains and fields of Niseko to pick wild vegetables! Join an expert guide to go foraging. You will spend just under an hour in the mountains and forests of Niseko, looking for edible plants with your guide.

This is an experience of old-fashioned living, where you make a fire and cook the wild vegetables you pick. There are many kinds of wild plants in each season… can you eat them? Are they poisonous? Are they medicinal? Your guide is an expert, so he can help you choose what to pick and what is safe to eat.

Measures against bears- a question we often get
We’ve been doing this experience for 30 years, but we’ve never encountered a bear.
Of course, when entering the mountains and fields, we take measures to avoid encountering bears, such as ringing a bell or whistling to let the bear know our location. If a bear approaches, we will use bear spray.
If you wish, we will give you a lecture on how to protect yourself from bears, bees, poisonous plants, etc. before the experience.

Tour Company

In 1993, "Boken Kazoku" (Adventure Family) was opened in an old abandoned school building. The wooden walls, corridors, and ceilings of the school building are reminiscent of former days. Currently, the classrooms are used as restaurants and accommodations, and there is also a gymnasium, hearth hut, and Goemon bath, where you can enjoy lifestyle and nature experiences that make the most of Niseko's nature.
