The highlight of winter in Shiretoko is the drift ice floes. Come explore the animals and wild birds onboard the comfortable “Evergreen!”
Animals and birds from all over the world gather in the sea off Shiretoko to spend the winter. When the drift ice arrives, about 700 white-tailed and Steller’s sea eagles rest among the ice. This means there is a high probability of seeing them – in about 90% of cases they make an appearance.
Plus, the Evergreen is not just a sightseeing boat! It also introduces the lives of the people who live in Rausu and gives an up-close look at the impressive pollock fishing boats. The captain, a former fisherman, will guide you dynamically through the majestic nature of Shiretoko and Rausu!
