All Hokkaido Staff- Meet Manami!

All Hokkaido Staff

2025.06.13

Hello from the All Hokkaido staff! We are going to introduce ourselves and the other members of Hokkaido Treasure Island over a series of posts. This time, we’re introducing one of our staff members, Manami!

What is your job?
Mainly I arrange 1 day tours for people who travel to Hokkaido. Also, I post on All Hokkaido’s Instagram and Facebook to let everyone know about the great things about Hokkaido.

Why did you come to Hokkaido originally?
After I came back to Japan from a working holiday in Australia, I got a job in Hokkaido. Even though I had never visited Hokkaido before, I decided to live in a new place. And My decision was completely right! I have lived here for ten years now.

What do you love about Hokkaido?
I love the weather in Hokkaido the most! Especially I am from a southern island in Japan, it’s really cool and comfortable. I am always impressed with the heavy snow every winter. I challenge myself not to fall over every year and I always lose this game…

What is your favorite thing to do when you have time?
Spending time at home is my favorite thing on my day off. But recently, I have been exploring different places around the Sapporo area. I drove to Yurigahara Park the other day. I saw such beautiful flowers and greens! I want to explore more local places this summer!

What do you hope everyone who comes to Hokkaido will do?
I want everyone to enjoy meeting local people! I know you will enjoy beautiful nature wherever you are in Hokkaido, so I’d like to recommend joining a city walking tour to spend your time like a local! I believe that meeting great people is the most memorable thing when you travel to other countries.

What is your fondest Hokkaido memory?
When I visited Muroran with my husband many years ago, we went to Cape Chikyu by bus. However, there wasn’t a bus on the way back. When we were going back to the hotel on foot, a very kind local lady in a car talked to us and offered to give us a lift. It’s not easy to talk to strangers, but she was really kind and we enjoyed a nice conversation in the car. I will always remember her kindness forever. I hope everyone who travels to Hokkaido will have a wonderful memory like this!
