Tour Highlights
- Enjoy Lake Abashiri smelt fishing and eagle watching in half a day!
- Come search for eagles, some of the rarest in the world
- Try ice fishing on the ice of Lake Abashiri, the best place for smelt fishing!
Experience the beauty of Abashiri! Both the full-day and half-day options for this trip include searching for Steller’s sea eagles in the guide’s car and carefully observing them with a telescope or binoculars. Then even if it’s your first time ice fishing on the frozen Lake Abashiri, the guide will provide you with full support. This means you can come join empty-handed, with no gear needed. After fishing, warm yourself up with some piping hot tempura.
If you do the full-day plan, you will start in the morning with snowshoeing! Let’s go out on snowshoes to the coast where the dynamic ice waterfall and drift ice comes ashore. The ice waterfall, which changes shape every year, is very beautiful and impressive. When the drift ice comes ashore, you can enjoy the drift ice experience by riding and touching the ice washed up on land under the supervision of the guide. (Please forgive us if there is no drift ice!)
You can enjoy each program individually, but if you come to Abashiri in the winter, we recommend experiencing these activities together.
There is very little walking involved, so everyone from children to the elderly can enjoy them!
