Head to a nature and lifestyle experience center where you can experience a variety of things, with facilities for lodging and experiences, hearth huts, campsites, kamakura, etc., while retaining as much of the appearance of an 80-year-old wooden school building as possible.

Tour Highlights
- Catch wild fish such as Yamabe, Iwana, Rainbow trout, Sculpin, and sometimes Fukuloach.
- Try it at least once!!
Gently reach your hands in to grab the fish hiding under the rocks with your fingers. It’s not that easy, but as you chase the fish in the beautiful river the nostalgic scenery of the old headwaters unfolds before your eyes.
Summer in Hokkaido is short! And even during that time, the fish-catching period is even shorter! It lasts less than a month.
If the water temperature is low, you can either give up or you can keep trying! Catch yamame trout and rainbow trout hiding in the shade of rocks with your bare hands.

By car:
From Sapporo, take R230 Nakayama Pass. Turn right on Kimobetsu R276, turn left on R5, then it’s about 5 minutes down the road (about 2 hours 30 minutes from Sapporo)
Boken Kazoku is located along National Route 5.
By public transportation:
Take the bus from JR Kutchan Station to Boken Kazoku for about 15 minutes. Get off at “Hirafu Elementary School” or “Hirafu Kita” and it will be right in front of you.
