The lake was formed by the groundwater flowing through the Shiretoko plateau.

During your afternoon walk through the virgin forest, your guide will take you to a special part of nature, taking into consideration the weather, your physical condition, stamina, and your wishes.

During your walk, you may encounter some wild animals!

Don't miss the waterfall that cascades into the sea, "Tears of a Man."

Shiretoko One-Day Guided Tour

First, we'll take a refreshing morning stroll around the Shiretoko Five Lakes.

Take a stroll while enjoying the spectacular views of the lake and mountains.

Finally, you will emerge onto an elevated boardwalk and return to the starting point while taking in the views of the Shiretoko Mountains and the Sea of Okhotsk.

Once you leave the forest, you'll find yourself on a vast, green plain

Beyond the grassland lies the blue sea of Okhotsk.

Small binoculars are available for use during walks. Rain boots are available for free rental in case of rain.

On this tour you will join a certified guide at the Shiretoko Five Lakes on the Shiretoko Five Lakes Guided Tour. The guide will take you deep into the wonderful natural world of Shiretoko, with its pristine nature, untouched forests, and the Shiretoko Five Lakes.

From there, head to the forests of Shiretoko on a relatively flat walking course that is easy for everyone to enjoy. The nature guide will explain the ecosystem and natural mechanisms of this World Heritage Site in an easy-to-understand and fun way. Look for animals, enjoy spectacular views of the ocean, and experience Shiretoko!

We offer a variety of experiences, from trekking to get up close and fully experience the Okhotsk Sea, to hot air ballooning in winter, and snowshoeing to Lake Mashu and Kaminoko Pond.

7:30- Pickup from accommodation

8:00- Pre-lecture at the Shiretoko Five Lakes Field House, then begin walk

12:00- Lunch at restaurant recommended by guide

13:30- Walk through the forest. Experience untouched nature and see the Shiretoko ecosystem with your own eyes.

16:30- Walk ends, transfer back to hotel

The start time of the tour may change depending on the reservation status for the Shiretoko Five Lakes walk.

Children (ages 6-11): 13,250yen

During the brown bear activity season (May 10th- July 31st) there will be an additional 1,100 yen charge for adults and 700 yen charge for children

Notes

If the tour cannot proceed due to heavy rain, lightning, wind, or blizzard, we will cancel the tour and inform you.
The tour may be cancelled or changed for brown bear sightings, safety or other reasons at the discretion of the guide.
Skirts, heels, and sandals are not permitted.

Cancellation / Changes

A cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled on the day of the event or in case of a no-show
A cancellation fee of 50% is charged if cancelled 1 day or less before the event
A cancellation fee of 20% is charged if cancelled 7 days or less before the event
A cancellation fee of 10% is charged if cancelled 14 days or less before the event
