Toyoura, near Lake Toya, is a town rich in seafood and mountain produce.
Facing Uchiura Bay (Funka Bay), it is also popular for its beautiful coastline and sunsets.
The local specialty of Toyoura is farmed scallops, but do you know how fishermen grow them?
If you join this tour, you too will become a scallop expert! You will definitely find scallops more delicious and lovable than ever before!
A local guide from the Funka Bay Toyoura Tourism Association will show you around the town! She will use a large felt model of a scallop and a game she made herself to guide you.
This tour is all about scallops- allowing you to learn about, enjoy, and eat them deliciously.

Access by JR:
- JR Sapporo Station to JR Toyoura Station: ~2 hours and 40 minutes (with one transfer), then ~5 minute walk from JR Toyoura Station

Notes
- If the fisheries cooperative’s inspection reveals that shellfish toxin levels exceed the standard, you will not be able to eat scallops. You can still experience scallop fishing on the condition that you do not sample the scallops.
- The tour will proceed in case of rain.
- If there is no fishing due to rough weather, such as a storm, the tour may be cancelled.
- Depending on the fishing conditions, there may not be any scallops available. In that case, an alternative menu will be provided. We thank you for your understanding.
- Please follow all of the instructions of the tour guide.
- Guests who have been drinking alcohol cannot participate.
- Please refrain from eating, drinking, or smoking during the tour.
- Responses to inquiries made on weekends and public holidays may be delayed. Thank you for your understanding.
Cancellation / Changes
- A cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled on the day of the event or in case of a no-show
- A cancellation fee of 50% is charged if cancelled 3 days or less before the event
- A cancellation fee of 30% is charged if cancelled 5 days or less before the event
