- Walk through the forest while listening for the sounds of wild birds
- Head for the coast on snowshoes and experience the drift ice up close
Drift ice comes ashore from late January to late February in Koshimizu Town, located in the Okhotsk area on the eastern side of Hokkaido. Beginning snowshoeing from a walking trail through the forest along the coast, you can take a short break at an observation deck with a spectacular view of the Sea of Okhotsk and the Shiretoko Mountain Range, then continue walking along the coast.
When the drift ice comes ashore, you can see the impressive ice blocks right in front of you!

What to Bring & Wear
- Cold weather gear- warm and easy-to-move-in clothes
- Snowwear tops and bottoms, light down jacket, or similar wear
- Cold weather gloves are a must. Ski or snowboard gloves are also acceptable.
- Waterproof trekking shoes, boots, or snow boots with thick socks.
- Knit hat
- Sunglasses or snow goggles
- Drinks and light snack
- A bag to keep your hands free

10:15-10:30/13:15-13:30- Snowshoeing lecture
10:30-11:45/13:30-14:45- Tobetsujisan Forest – Coastal snowshoeing. Take a commemorative photo with the drift ice when it comes ashore. You may encounter wild birds and animals

Notes
- If the tour cannot proceed due to heavy rain, lightning, wind, or blizzard, we will cancel the tour and inform you.
- The tour dates may be changed or cancelled if there is not enough snow due to unseasonal weather or other reasons.
- *There may be times when the drift ice is not yet on the shore at Tobetsu Beach in Koshimizu Town, where the snowshoeing activity will be conducted. Thank you for your understanding.
Cancellation / Changes
- A cancellation fee of 100% is charged if cancelled after the start of the event or in case of a no-show
- A cancellation fee of 50% is charged if cancelled on the day of, before the start of the event
- A cancellation fee of 40% is charged if cancelled 1 day or less before the event
