    Tour Highlights

    • Take home the maple or birch water you collect- please bring a container!
    • A special program where you can experience the blessings of nature!
    • In March and April, the forest is covered in deep snow. Put on traditional Japanese snowshoes and head out to the forest!

Niseko is covered in snow for almost 5 months of the year. In old times, snowshoes were an essential part of daily life in the winter. This experience is a throw back to those days and involves hiking through broadleaf forests and snowy fields in snowshoes, and if you’re lucky, you might even see birds and animals. You will be using traditional “kanjiki” Japanese snowshoes made from wood and ropes to walk across the incredible Niseko snow.

Your guide will teach you to walk in snowshoes before taking you on an outdoor walk in the forests of Niseko. In the forests you will try tapping maple and birch trees In early spring in Hokkaido, when there is still snow, the black maple trees absorb a lot of minerals from the ground, which are necessary for bud growth. The nutrients contained in maple include potassium, manganese, zinc, calcium, etc. This is different from birch trees- when you try it, it has a slightly sweet taste and the aroma of wood. It can be enjoyed as it is, or as a mixer for coffee or alcohol. You may see white sediment, but this is just the birch extract so you can enjoy it with peace of mind.

You will be collecting both types on this trip on this tour to enjoy the blessings of nature!

Take a break from the rush of everyday life and spend some time in nature. We hope that during your stay here, you will find some hints to make your daily life richer and healthier, and that when you return home you will feel happier and more relaxed than yesterday.

This forest sits at the foot of Mt. Yotei, and underground water nourishes the trees. From March to early May, the white birch and silver maple trees soak up large amounts of mineral-rich spring water from their trunks to the tips of their branches in order to sprout new leaves.

    Tour Company

In 1993, "Boken Kazoku" (Adventure Family) was opened in an old abandoned school building. The wooden walls, corridors, and ceilings of the school building are reminiscent of former days. Currently, the classrooms are used as restaurants and accommodations, and there is also a gymnasium, hearth hut, and Goemon bath, where you can enjoy lifestyle and nature experiences that make the most of Niseko's nature.
