Tour Highlights

  • A 6km river cruise down the Tokachi River
  • Recommended for families and groups!
  • Feel free to join in wearing your everyday clothes- no need for special wear or equipment

Unlike other rafting adventures, this is a gentle section of the river. This means it’s a perfect river trip for small children and those who don’t like strenuous activities.

Because it’s a relaxed ride, you can fully experience the nature of Tokachi and have a chance to look around.

The river widens as it mixes with tributaries- there are large colonies of endangered willows, shell fossils that were once in the sea, the ancient gemstone “Tokachi stone,” the lignite bed that gave birth to the moor hot springs, the wild birds that gather in the river, and more!

There’s a lot to see.

You can bring your camera and smartphone onto the boat, so be sure to take plenty of photos.

One boat can accommodate up to nine people, so it’s recommended for families and groups.

Tokachi Nature Center(Outdoor Business Division)

This is a thrilling spot when the water level rises in spring. It's also recommended for splashing around in the water on hot summer days, or when the new greenery and autumn leaves are in season.

Tour Company

Based in Tokachigawa Onsen, in the summer we offer hot air ballooning, SUP, canoeing and other river rafting activities. In the winter we offer a range of snow play activities, mainly snowmobiling. Surrounded by the typical Tokachi natural scenery, even first-timers are welcome to join us.

  • Tokachi River First Cruise

The participants were my friend's family of four (two elementary school children), my daughter who is in the fourth grade, and myself. What I felt during the experience was that I was surprised that I could experience river rafting from Obihiro in less than 30 minutes! The view from the river was truly amazing! Many wild birds popped out between the trees, and flying close to the river is something you rarely see from land. I made many new discoveries, such as seeing the geological strata up close and finding the confluence with the Shihoro River, which I had not known before. The river flowed calmly, and the best part was that even the younger children were able to take up paddles and row together, experiencing the experience together. • I was taken back to my childhood

My family of four participated in the morning session on August 7th. Although the effects of last year's typhoon were still lingering, we still had a great time in our short time, seeing 1.5 million year old strata, finding shell fossils, and collecting obsidian. Our guide was very kind and polite, and we also took care of him with the hot air balloon ride early the next morning. I highly recommend this tour! Thank you very much. • Cooling down on a hot day

This is a very gentle river basin, so there isn't much splashing around, but it feels great to just float leisurely with one foot in the cool river. You can also get addicted to finding rocks, and if you have a change of clothes, you can just let yourself flow through the river. (Even on a hot summer day, the water temperature is very low, so it seems that you can only stay there for a short time.) I also saw geological strata and swallow's nests! It was fun!
