Through August 16th, head to Odori Park to join the Bon “Odori” (dance) with locals of Sapporo! It is a traditional Japanese festival with drums, dancing, and music to celebrate and welcome ancestors returning to visit their relatives. This time is an important one for Japanese families, as many Japanese people return to their hometowns to see family members and remember their loved ones.
During the Bon event in Odori Park, there will be dances for both kids and adults, as well as games, food, and music. Many visitors to the festival will wear yukata, which adds to the fun festival spirit. The Bon dance is easy to learn and pick up, so take the chance to drop by and experience one of Japan’s traditions!
