  • First time trying SUP

The meeting place is the parking lot of Lake Kanayama Recreation Center. My wife and I participated. This time, there were a total of four participants, including us. After gathering, we immediately moved in a car led by the guide. It took about a few minutes to arrive at the lakeside. There are tents like those used in camping, and you can change clothes inside them. The format is to wear a wetsuit directly over light clothing such as short sleeves and shorts. I think it's easier to go to the venue in light clothing without having to change clothes. The guide was a man from Nepal, but he spoke good Japanese and there were no problems with communication. He gently guided us. After a brief explanation of how to use the equipment, we started SUP immediately. It was quite difficult to stand at first, and I capsized many times, but I gradually got used to it and was eventually able to move while standing. I have average motor skills, so I think even beginners should be fine. However, you will use a lot of arm strength, so you may get muscle pain. It's also a good idea to apply sunscreen. It was early July and the weather was mostly cloudy with occasional sunny spells, but the water temperature was just right and it felt really nice. We finished after enjoying SUP for about an hour and a half. The guide took photos with a digital camera from time to time, which cost money, but can be purchased by having a CD-ROM sent to you at a later date. I haven't received the photos yet, but I'm really looking forward to it. It's inevitable that you'll get soaking wet, so it's a good idea to take a bath after you've finished. There was a public bath inside the meeting place, Lake Kanayama Recreation Center, so we used that. It has the atmosphere of the Showa to early Heisei era, but the interior is clean and the water was pleasant.   (This review has been machine translated)
